Muse’s collaboration MK Ultra screened

By Alexandra Embiricos

At the turn of the month, MTV EXIT Director Matt Love was invited to be a Keynote speaker at a conference held by UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research) in Jeju, Republic of Korea. The conference, which also hosted speakers from such organisations as UNICEF and UNIAP (the United Nations Inter-Agenct Project on Human Trafficking), was entitled ‘Enhancing Human Security’, and aimed at developing the ability of local governments to combat child trafficking across the region.

This is more than a growing dilemma; according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes, trafficking is the fastest growing form of crime, crossing borders into every country in the world and affecting the lives of up to 800,000 people every year. Shockingly 50% of those trafficked are minors.

Matt participated in the opening discussions as a representative of social media, highlighting the positive effect it can have by dramatically increasing public awareness.

As living testament to this, Muse’s collaboration MK Ultra was screened at the workshop, which has accumulated over 800,000 views and 600 online comments to date. He also facilitated a session entitled ‘Anti-Trafficking Initiatives: Identifying Good Practice’ utilising case studies from the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia among others. In all the conference was a great success, congrats to Matt and the team!
